A Little Community History With A Side Of Local Flavor.
You know, the recent changes to the road in front of our store got us thinking about how much things have changed over the years. The road has had a few names along the way. What was once State Highway 212 became State Highway 5, and today, it’s County Road 14. But to us, it will always be good ol’ Stillwater Boulevard.
And just like the road, the community around us has grown and changed over the years, too. And we’ve had a front-row seat to experience it all for nearly a century.
Our little meat market has evolved, too. While we’re incredibly proud of all the changes we’ve made along the way, we often find ourselves thinking about where it all started and how we got here.
For three generations, Hagberg’s “The Meat Place” has been part of the Lake Elmo community. Since 1938, the Hagberg family has been serving local families and building relationships that have literally lasted for generations.
In 1972, Billy’s parents, Bill and Pat, moved the store from its original location on Main Street in Lake Elmo to its current location along the newly renovated Stillwater Boulevard. It was an important new chapter for Hagberg’s, but one thing never changed, our family’s commitment to quality, community, and serving the people of Lake Elmo and the surrounding communities.
Today, Billy and Melissa Hagberg carry on that tradition, operating the same family business that Billy’s grandparents, Ray and Olga Hagberg, purchased nearly a century ago.
So, the next time you stop by the store, take a moment to soak it all in. Along with the plentiful flavors and delicious offerings around you, you’ll also get a taste of what makes a true hometown family meat market, and the community we’re so proud to serve, so special.
