Road Construction Is Coming. And So Is Another Chapter for Stillwater Boulevard.

If you’ve lived in Lake Elmo long enough, you know our stretch of road has had more identities than most people realize.

A funny thing about the highway is that when Billy was little, and even before he was around, it was State Highway 212. Later, it became State Highway 5. Today it’s County Road 14. Through every change, though, one name has remained constant: Stillwater Boulevard. That’s the name we’ve always known, and it’s still the address we proudly call home at Hagberg’s.

Now, another change is coming in the form of road construction and traffic adjustments. While construction season is never anyone’s favorite time of year, we’re choosing to look at a couple of bright sides.

For one, the one-way eastbound traffic pattern may actually make leaving the store easier for many customers. Anyone who has tried to cross busy traffic on Stillwater Boulevard knows that can sometimes be an adventure of its own. With the new traffic flow, at least that particular challenge should be reduced for a while.

The detour route also gives people a chance to see some of the exciting growth happening right here in Lake Elmo. Along the way, you’ll pass the city’s beautiful City Hall and Fire Station –  facilities that really reflect how our community continues to invest in its future.

You’ll also drive by the impressive home of Kokoro Volleyball Club, a world-class volleyball training facility that has become a point of pride for Lake Elmo. It’s pretty remarkable to have an organization of that caliber right here in our backyard.

Road construction can be inconvenient, no doubt about it. But if there’s one thing longtime residents know, it’s that roads change, names change, and traffic patterns change, yet the community remains. Hagberg’s has been here through Highway 212, Highway 5, County Road 14, and everything in between, and we’ll continue welcoming customers the same way we always have.

So, however you get here this season, direct route, detour, or scenic drive through town, we look forward to seeing you. Making. Your trip a little more pleasant.
